#1 - Because costs are up. Anyone who has filled up their car or had to heat a living space for the duration of a winter understands that things are not like they once were. #5 - Because it is responsible planning for a household and for the planet at large. And as much as people might not like to admit it, aside from the fact that it's currently in style, caring about what happens to the future home of one's grandchildren is important. Likewise, caring about how a family is managing its heating bill a few months down the road is a crucial move in being responsible and a good head of the household.
